System of the lymphatic vases, its organization, its functions and alterations
In 1777, under the suggestion of his Professor, Mascagni starts conducting studies on the system of lymphatic vases, and thanks to his talent,he succeeded in underlining it through the use of the mercury.
Mascagni published his studies in Vasorum lymphaticorum corporis humani historia er ichnographia (1787). This work brought him great fame and the title of "prince of Anatomy scholars."
Human anatomy through the dissections on human corpses
Once underlined the lymphatic system, Mascagni devoted all of his activity to the study and teaching of the human body Anatomy
He became a strong supporter of the importance of dissections as an irreplaceable exercise for students, as being the only way, they would be able to understand and discover the mysteries of the human body
Realization of graphic supports for the students of Medicine
Mascagni exalted the anatomical cards as essential didactic means.
The 44 cards of the Anatomy Universa became the fundamental tool for the progress in anatomical study, not only for the presence of their lymphatic system, but also for the high quality of the sketching and for the innovation of their life sized human dimension.
Mascagni set also another anatomical atlas, simpler, only 15 cards with sketches of models in posing positions like in a life drawing lesson. This atlas was intended in fact for the teaching of Anatomy in Art Institutes.
